Eight Slain in Connecticut Warehouse Shooting Spree

A driver for a suburban Hartford, CT beer distributor shot and killed eight co-workers after a meeting where he was offered a choice of resigning or being fired.

34 year old Omar Thornton pulled out a handgun after a meeting where he was shown videotaped evidence of him stealing beer from the company.

"He was cool and calm. He didn't yell. He was cold as ice. He didn't protest when we were meeting with him to show him the video of him stealing. He didn't contest it. He didn't complain. He didn't argue. He didn't admit or deny anything. He just agreed to resign. And then he just unexplainably pulled out his gun and started blasting." Hartford Distributors Vice President Steve Hollander said.

Thronton reportedly concealed the guns in his lunch pail before shooting and killing the president of Teamsters Local 1035, 51 year old Bryan Cirigliano, and others while grazing Hollander in the arm and jaw. Thornton then made his way through the warehouse shooting other employees before turning the gun on himself as police closed in. Authorities aren't sure whether Thornton was tagetting specific individuals or simply firing at anybody he came across.

Before shooting himself, Thornton called his mother and JoAnne Hannah, the mother of his girlfriend. Thornton, who was black, had complained of racial harassment and said he found a picture of a noose and a racial epithet written on a bathroom wall, Hannah said. Her daughter told her that Thornton's supervisors told him they would talk to his co-workers. A union official said Thornton had not filed a complaint of racism with the union or any government agency.

"This is a disgruntled employee who shot a bunch of people," Teamsters official Christopher Roos said.

Already, worthless tools have come to the defense of Omar Thornton....because as we all know, mass murder is perfectly justified in the event of unsubstantiated allegations of racism.
