Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has certified the results of last month's election for the US Senate that saw state Senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham) defeat Attorney General Martha Coakley for Ted Kennedy's former seat.
Brown was sworn into office by VP Joe Biden today, a week ahead of schedule.
Earlier today, Brown resigned his state senate seat. Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin announced that the special election to replace the seat vacated by Brown will be held May 11th, 2010 with the party primaries taking place on April 13th.
Scott Brown defeated Marth Coakley in the January 19th special election after a late surge and campaigning on being the pivotal 41st vote to block President Obama's increasingly unpopular healthcare legislation as well as other controversial measures the President has expressed support for such as Cap & Trade or Card Check.
That was the best thing to happen today!
