2007- "Petraeus or BETRAY US!!!?": 2010- "OMG! Petraus is our Guy!"

Above is the 2007 full-page print ad that self-parodying left-wing professional whiners moveon.org placed in the New York Times impugning General David Petraeus' service and charachter while he was to appear before congress asking for a troop surge in Iraq, claiming that he was "a military man at war with the facts" and closing with "General Petraeus is likely to become General Betray Us".

When Sen John Cornyn (R-TX) drafted a resolution that condemned moveon.org for the ad, then Senators Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden voted against it. Then Senator Barak Obama was absent from the roll-call, but was quoted in a New York Times article as calling Cornyn's resolution "a stunt".

Mr. Obama said, “By not casting a vote, I registered my protest against these empty politics.”
The resolution ultimately passed the senate by a 72-25 margin, with Senator barbra Boxer (D-CA) authoring a seperate resolution that condemned the ad without mentioning Obama and the Dems most faithful cheerleaders moveon.org by name that never made it out of committee.

But with McChrystal's 'resignation' over some comments in a magazine article, the Obama Administration has suddenly hoped the rest of us have all forgotten about that full-page ad in the Times (apparently at a discount) that his fanboys took out not even three years ago.

The career whiners at moveon.org sure as hell want you to forget, since they've scrubbed all images or mention of the ad from their website now that he's the Obama Administration's pick for US Commander in Afghanistan.

However, much to the chagrin of groups like moveon.org or Think Progress, some of us have a very long memory when it comes to their slurs and libel against the US Military.

[H/t Weaselzippers for archiving the ad and moveon.org's accompanying promotional blurb]
