Today's Train of Thought- O Say Can You CSX? June 14, 2012
In honor of Flag Day, Today's Train of Thought takes us to the far Southwestern corner of Old Dominion.
I'm starting to think Flag Day should be the Thanksgiving to the 4th of July's Christmas, when all the larger than life and ornate flags, bunting or banners should be front and center for several weeks.
Then again, most people don't limit their flying the American flag to a select few national holidays.
Here, CSX ES44AC #788 is seen exercising trackage rights over the Norfolk Southern through Big Stone Gap, VA on July 2nd, 2008. Not only did railpictures.net contributor Ron Flanary catch the big GE lugging 67 cars upgrade through a pastoral rural setting, but he managed to frame it with this patriotically adorned home on Baum Hollow Rd, complete with the stars and stripes as well as red white and blue bunting to brighten up an already lively scene.
