The Iowa Northern has certainly been busy lately. A large part of that is due to the increase in ethanol production, but there's also a passenger train that shuttles Iowa Hawkeye Football fans to and from home games at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. This has garnered the shortline enough attention to be featured on Bloomberg TV and The Big Ten Network
Railpictures.net contributor Craig Williams caught this trio of Iowa Northern GP38-2s lead by IANR #3803 en route to the Union Pacific interchange with a trainload of John Deere tractors on the last day of March 2004. If only there was some indication of the name of the town where this picture was taken.....some sort of subtle clue or reminder.
