At Least 200 Feared Dead in Congo Tanker Blast

The UN and local officials in eastern Congo say that an estimated 200 people were killed in an explosion when a tanker truck overturned and exploded in the village of Sange. The trailer overturned while speeding according to a local official and it's believed the death toll was so high because many of the villagers were trying to collect oil from the crash site.

Those that weren't attempting to siphon off oil from the punctured trailer were likely indoors watching one of the World Cup matches. Regional police say the truck had come from Tanzania and was trying to pass a bus when the accident happened.

According to the UN, at least 5 of their Peacekeepers were killed in the explosion as well.
